Somkiad

A loan to help purchase cooking ingredients such as fresh meats, vegetables, condiments, cooking tools and other merchandise.

Somkiad is a local, married woman residing in a small Khmer community located in Surin province, Thailand. She lives with her husband and children. Generally, Somkiad's husband works as a farmer, and she runs a food stall selling local cuisine.

The stall has been operating since Somkiad was in her teenage years. She studied and obtained cooking skills from her family. All the foods she sells are mostly locally made, and she also cooks homemade recipe foods for sale. She packs food in plastic bags and places them on tray displays for customers to come purchase.

Presently, Somkiad desires to enhance her business by selling more food and adding more merchandise for sale, and she plans to purchase some edible merchandise locally.

She values neighborhood support, which will also allow other households in her neighborhood area to earn income by selling local homemade merchandise. However, she needs more money to support her business objectives.

Therefore, Somkiad applied for a second loan to purchase cooking ingredients such as fresh meats, vegetables, condiments, cooking tools, and other merchandise. Having more variety of foods for sale will enable her to earn sufficient income to provide for her family and children's needs.
